05 Mar Disaster Management Sub-Committee Report
To our Valued members and guests
With the impending severe weather reports of Cyclone Alfred moving with sustained winds of 95kmh to gusts of 130kmh, the decision for the safety of the members and guests of the McLeod Country Golf Club is to close the golf course and clubhouse from 12pm Wednesday 5th March 2025.
At this stage we do not anticipate the course or clubhouse being open till after the Sunday 9th March 2025, when we will reassess the course for safety and playability for the following week. The charting* of the rainfall for the Mount Ommaney, The Hills region is showing 138mm of rain directly. With the surrounding runoff of rain into the catchment, we are anticipating a large flow of water through the course.
We have a duty of care to all members, guests and employees with this weather warning.
In examining the information from B.O.M App, the State Government broadcasts, Windy App* and a call to local MP Jess Pugh, the sub-committee wish to notify you on the Operational course of action in place.
Any members wishing to remove their golf equipment from the cages or buggy sheds will have access up to 12pm on Wednesday 5th March 2025. The Pro-Shop and clubhouse administration will be open to 4pm for any questions.
As part of the disaster management plan, the pumps will be removed from the pump shed by external contractors on Wednesday and located in a safe dry position for the duration of the rain period and reinstalled once it is safe to do.
The course will have all flags, markers, bins and loose items removed by the team on Wednesday morning.
The Greens Director Peter Glassop as the Disaster Event Co-Ordinator is available on email board1@mcleodgolf.com.au or the General Manager Anthony Burke on email manager@mcleodgolf.com.au for any questions over the period of the course and clubhouse closure which will be expected to be up to and including the Sunday 9th March 2025.
At this stage we anticipate that on Sunday the course will be assessed on what works is required on Monday 10th of March to open the course safely for members and guests.
If any major changes occur, the club can make operational arrangements to have the course and clubhouse re-opened as soon as possible with all WHS guidelines and protocols followed.
We will place a notification on the club’s social media pages, Facebook and lnstagram re the club’s closure and re-opening times when they are known.
On behalf of the club, we wish all members and guests the utmost safety during this unprecedented weather event, and if we can assist in any way, please reach out to the club.
Regards
Sally-Anne Eales-Vice President McLeod Country Golf Club
Anthony Burke-General Manager McLeod Country Golf Club
