09 Mar Disaster Management Sub-Committee Report Update
To our valued members and guests.
With the continual deluge of rain from the Ex-Cyclone Alfred, the decision for the safety of the members and guests of the McLeod Country Golf Club is to continue with the decision to close the golf course until the next review is undertaken on Tuesday 11th March 2025.
At this stage we do not anticipate the course being open till Thursday 13th March 2025.
The rainfall for the Mount Ommaney region has exceeded the estimated 138mm of rain. With the surrounding runoff of rain into the catchment, it appears the course has had more than 200mm. At the course inspection today, we have seen water at levels not seen since the floods. We are anticipating a large flow of water that is currently falling, to continue with at least another 120mm in the next 24 hours.
We have a duty of care to all members, guests and employees with this ever-changing situation caused by the Ex-Cyclone Alfred.
In examining the information from B.O.M App, the State Government broadcasts, and news alerts we wish to notify you on the updated Operational course of action in place.
The Clubhouse admin staff will be on-site from 10am to 4pm from Monday & Tuesday to prepare for the re-opening.
The greenkeepers plan is to attend the course once the water starts to subside, so they can start removing debris from the cyclone’s storms and continual rain. We anticipate this will be Tuesday at some time, based on the B.O.M and news reports from the State Government.
The course greenkeepers will have all the flags, markers, bins and loose items installed dependent on the water levels on Wednesday. The volunteers will be welcomed by Peter & Aaron and the greenkeepers to assist, when it is deemed safe to do so.
As part of the disaster management plan, the pumps that were removed from the pump shed by external contractors on Wednesday and located in a safe dry position for the duration of the rain period will be reinstalled once it is safe to do.
No mowing will be possible this week, as the machinery will damage the greens and course with the amount of rain that has fallen.
The focus remains on having the course and clubhouse re-opened as soon as possible with all WHS guidelines and protocols followed.
We will place a notification on the club’s social media pages, Facebook and Instagram re the club’s closure and re-opening times when they are known.
The Greens Director Peter Glassop as the Disaster Event Co-Ordinator is available on email board1@mcleodgolf.com.au or the General Manager Anthony Burke on email manager@mcleodgolf.com.au for any questions over the period of the course and clubhouse closure.
On behalf of the club, we wish all members and guests the utmost safety during this unprecedented weather event, and if we can assist in any way, please reach out to the club.

Anthony Burke-General Manager
