29 Oct McLeod Hit by Severe Storm
Last Sunday, McLeod Country Golf Club was hit by a powerful storm that swept through the region, leaving a trail of damage in its wake. Unfortunately, the golf course bore the brunt of the severe weather, with strong winds toppling numerous trees and debris scattered across several fairways and greens. The safety of members, guests, and staff is our highest priority, and as a result, the course has been closed while extensive clean-up and restoration efforts get underway.
We will open 9 holes tomorrow!
The storm’s intensity was described by locals as one of the most destructive weather events the club has faced in recent years. Large branches and entire trees have fallen across key playing areas, affecting the playability and safety of multiple holes. Ground staff & volunteers have already begun the challenging task of clearing debris, assessing turf damage, and planning the restoration process. This will be no small undertaking — as we like to say, it’s shaping up to be a “clean-up of epic proportions.”
The McLeod Country Golf Club team is working tirelessly to restore the course to its usual pristine condition as quickly and safely as possible. Regular updates will be shared across our social media channels, so members and guests are encouraged to keep an eye out for announcements on our official Facebook and Instagram pages.
Despite the temporary course closure, we’re pleased to share that the Clubhouse bar and bistro remain open and fully operational. Our team is continuing to serve up the same great-value meals and friendly atmosphere that McLeod is known for. Whether you’re stopping in for a relaxed lunch, an evening meal, or a quiet drink with friends, your support during this time means the world to us. The clubhouse is the heart of our community, and we’d love to see familiar faces continue to drop by while the fairways take a well-deserved breather.
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated grounds crew and volunteers who have already been hard at work clearing fallen trees, repairing damage, and ensuring the club facilities remain safe. Their commitment and community spirit remind us of what makes McLeod such a special place — it’s more than just a golf course; it’s a family.
In times like these, the support of our members, guests, and the wider community is invaluable. Every visit to the bistro, every encouraging message, and every offer of help contributes to our recovery and helps us get one step closer to reopening the course.
We’re confident that, with teamwork and perseverance, McLeod Country Golf Club will bounce back stronger than ever. For now, we ask for your patience and understanding as we undertake the necessary repairs. Stay tuned to our social media pages for updates — and in the meantime, come down, enjoy a meal, and continue to be part of the McLeod community spirit.
